From left to right: Niamh Schmidtke, Ariane Koek & Dr Johannes Giebel.
This talk marks the end of the two months of intense artistic research at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) by “Earth” artist in residence Niamh Schmitke, working with their scientific collaborator Dr Johannes Giebel.
In this conversation, they discuss what their research into minerals has focused on - extraction, colonialism and capitalism and how interconnected they are, as well as the politics of care. You can hear hints about the work which Niamh has been doing. The talk is moderated by Ariane Koek, curator of the Earth Water Sky environmental arts and science programme, which is fully funded by Fondation Didier et Martine Primat.
